On Thursday, April 28th, the first graders went on a field trip to Columbian Park and Zoo. While there, students were able to enjoy all of the views the park had to offer by taking a train ride. Students were actively engaged in a presentation put on by our local zookeepers about some of the animals that live at the zoo and their habitats . Students were able to get up close and touch a chinchilla, a tortoise, and a Kenyan sand boa constrictor. First grade teacher, Carrie Davidson said, "The first graders loved getting to learn about and touch animals from all over the world. It was a hands-on experience that they do not normally have when they visit the zoo with their families." What would a trip to Columbian Park and Zoo be without time to play on the playground? First graders ran, swung, climbed, and slid their way through all of the different play options available. It was an amazing trip and the students returned to school completely exhausted!
