Future Violinists in the 4th and 5th Grades
Taylor Butcher

Before Winter Break, 4th and 5th Grade students were visited during music class by members of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra through the Strings Attached Program. Karen Isaacs, wop plays violin for the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra,  gave a demonstration of the violin and then taught the students how to play the violin. Strings Attached was able to bring in enough violins for every student to play their own during the class. One of the goals of the program is to introduce students to other avenues of music available to them in middle school and encourage participation in orchestra, band, and choir.

On February 7th at 7PM, the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra will be giving a Lollipop Concert at the Long Center in downtown Lafayette. The performance is The Story of Peter Pan by composer David Ott. Starting beforehand at  6PM, there will be an instrument petting zoo where students will be able to try many different types of band and orchestra instruments.

Thank you to Miss Ziegman for organizing such a wonderful experience for our students. Also thank you to the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra for providing a wonderful opportunity for our students!
