Mayflower Mill hosted Kindergarten Camp at our school this year that gave students the opportunity to learn about Kindergarten before it starts. The program, funded through United Way, was held each day from 8:30-11:00 a.m. for 2 weeks. The camp was taught by Kindergarten teacher, SunShine Waber. It’s purpose is to give students a head start on school.
The camp had 20 eager students in attendance that were excited to learn about Kindergarten. They worked on the following skills: letters and sounds, number recognition, writing names, recognizing names, school rules and routines, following directions, maintaining focus, social skills, solving problems with peers, fine motor skills such as cutting, gluing, and writing and so much more! Camp participants received a bookbag, school supplies, and books, along with other goodies.
