*Optional but preferred: Five Star Mead®-type zipper binder and two plastic pocket dividers with tabs, or two binder folders (folders with holes to place in binders). Please make sure there are pockets in the folders or dividers you purchase – the students put their papers in the pockets. This binder is used to take homework and papers back and forth from home to school – often students do not use a backpack. If your child is using a backpack and binder, make sure the binder fits in the backpack.

Note: Students may check out and take home classroom dictionaries and thesauri for evening homework, but they must return the books daily. Many families purchase dictionaries for their students to use at home so they do not have to lug home heavy books twice a week. The dictionaries we use in the classroom are the Webster’s Intermediate Dictionary, but you can purchase a collegiate dictionary. Any student, intermediate, or collegiate thesaurus is fine. You can find both of these resources on a bookstore website, and the used ones are reasonably priced. Your child will use these resources for the rest of their education, so it is a good investment.
